i couldn't get it to work your way stain, i had to rip back into a image before i burned it, As far as the speed, i always burn my games at 16x and never had a problem, and i have burned over 100 games, i have a NEC DVD burner, yours might be different so the speed might matter on yours, you telling all these people to burn at 4x, you're just making them wait longer.
wc878, you may be right, but i can only teach my method. that's what works for me in my experience. now, my method isn't wrong, cause it worked for me & other people on this very same thread. if you had to convert it back into an image, cool, i didn't have to, and guess what, it worked, obviously. i even got a few thank yous. i've also stated that people should try whatever method works for them, my method may not work for some people, & then again, it might work for them. the same goes for your method. & just like you said, speed may matter on my burner, it may also matter on someone elses as well. but i know that you can't go wrong burning at lower speeds. so don't try to make it seem as if i'm giving people wrong information, i'm only sharing my experience to try to help people get their backups to work. after all, that's why these forums exist, so that people can share different methods of doing things.
oh, & another thing, it's not polite to try to discredit someone's method just because it didn't work for you, take a look at purposeby's response,so that alone backs up my method. so basically, i have proof that my method has worked. maybe i should start putting disclaimers on my posts so i can be safe from being accused of putting out false advice. - disclaimer - cumstain will not be held responsible for non-working backups, damaged media, or any other equipment used in creating ps2 backups. all responsibility is placed upon the user attempting cumstain's advice, as cumstain himself is not present in assissting the user in creating ps2 backups. cumstain only suggests advice based on his experience and knowledge, and his advice is not 100% garaunteed. cumstain's method may not work for everyone, so attempting other methods is highly advisable, as cumstain himself stated. to everyone on this thread, if my method has worked for you, great, if not, try another method. if you create your own method, post it in this thread so that others may benefit from it. but do not discredit anyone's method if there's evidence that it worked for someone else.
you right cumstain, i just want to say thank you. because i wouldnt have a clue without your procedure, i also got fifa 08 to do the same thing, whats wierd about that game, is its only 2.5 gigs, but it would freeze unless i rebuild it.
always happy to help. most ea sports games have to be rebuilt, for future reference. you should check out pro evolution soccer 08, i think it's better than fifa. you would'nt need to rebuild it, it's made by konomi.
Gamers, This is a long thread, which might be confusing for some readers. So I decided to clear some points out: 1) You cannot simply copy the NBA LIVE 08 dvd and expect it to work (Obvious, but just in case!!). 2) You need a modchip or swap magic to use your backup. And yes, it works using version 3.6, but not tried other swap magic versions. 3) A rebuilt DVD won't work if it still contains the original BOOT.PAD file in it. 4) It won't work if you simply remove BOOT.PAD either! See below for a very simple solution I found (someone else might have also figured this out, don't know...) What you need: 1) A Dvd expander tool (yes, dvddecrypter will work just fine) 2) A DVD burner (e.g. nero) 3) That's it!... And required steps: 1) Extract your DVD contents to a folder 2) Rename BOOT.PAD to anything you wish (I tried "ABC") Yes, it's that simple! This huge file is still there, satisfying the TOC expectations, but it's not the notorious BOOT.PAD anymore ) 3) Built the image (e.g. ISO) 4) Burn the image and enjoy! Worked for me like a champ. And here are some confusing points mentioned in this thread. But I am not 100% sure in my claims. So please correct me if I am wrong telling these: 1) Replacing the BOOT.PAD with a small or empty file won't work. 2) You don't need to drag& drop files one by one and in an order. Just select them all! The file system has its own rules to place them anyways. Hope this helps
yo olsenp, i must have done the impossible because i left the BOOT.PAD file as is & i have a perfectly working copy. so for you to say that it cant be done you're pretty much posting false info. there's proof in this thread that it can be done, several people rebuilt with the BOOT.PAD file still in it & it works. read around a lil more. & besides, pretty much every way to rebuild nba live 08 has been posted on this very thread. the purpose for rebuilding this game is to reduce the total size of the game, so that it's less than 4.37. as long as it is 4.36 or less, most rebuilds should work fine. you're input isn't totally correct, but it's appreciated
Even when I rebuild the game, and it becomes 4.33 GB, when I burn it, Swap Magic labels it as an invalid disc.
what programs are you using? read the previous posts on this thread & one of the methods are bound to work for you. make sure that you're burning at 4x speed & try to use good dvd-r media. -r always works for me. but i know that one of these methods on this thread will work, either the method i posted or someone else. all the info you need is here. besides, which version swap magic do you have? i have 3.6
