I have a magic 3.1 and I don't need to shut off my modchip to play online. It is working fine with the retail version.
Thats funny...but i guess if it works it works. I have a DMS3 2.0 & it detects my chip, but when i switch it off it plays online like a charm.
Other thing that you can do is to start the game with the copied one and when you get the error you change to the retail version and press retry. It also works fien.
c7015, I think DNAS uses a disk id for verification. I saw a reference at http://www.iapplianceweb.com/story/OEG20020322S0067 in an article covering an address by Shinichi Okamoto, chief technology officer in the broadband division of Sony Computer Entertainment Those services will use a so-called Dynamic Network Authorization System for copyright management. The system is based on a disk ID that is read by a dnas server, he said. What I *think* is going on is that it checks the disk id before allowing you to play online. That info cannot be written to a dvd-r, it is pressed in at the factory at manufacturing time. Just like you can still see the manufacturer id with something like dvd info http://www.nicsoft.com.au/dvdinfo.html even after making a backup.
I tried playing the ripped version and it freezes at the last loading screen before you play the game, can somebody help I have a magic 3.1
2 options. 1st- If you have a copy start with the copy and when you get the DNS error you can change to the retail version and press retry. 2nd.- When you get the screen with your Internet provider ask to edit configuration. When you get the screen to edit you can hit triangle to quit this edit screen. PS2 won't recognize the disk, open and close the tray and connect online to play. ENJOY NCAA
Your goin to get an error with the back up either way when trying to play the game online...so why not just put in the retail(original) from the start? Doesn't make since to put in the back up & then put in the retail version right after.
so toreo u can just skip the edit confg screen and it will let u play online with only using your backup copy?
"but you shouldn't have a problem anyways because everyone should have a retail copy that should play fine online. " ========================== Doesnt matter because if you have a modchip you still cant past the DNAS verifiacation. There might be 1 or 2 chips out that will let you play the original copy online. I figure they'll have a patch that you burn with the game that will pass the DNAS test. who knows
djillini, to turn off your DMS3 modchip, do you just put it into sleep/stealth mode? sorry to ask but i just got mine and im a bit unsure.
