    Parts required:

    surface mount LEDs
    Surface mount soldering equipment
    breadboard wire
a place to tap power and ground for LED power (schematics required)

There's probably not a good guide to do it because it is a relatively complex modification. I have a clear case and have disassembled/repaired over 100 NDSL and I wouldn't spend the time to do it "right", which would be to lay out a wiring harness, determine the best pick off point for power, figure out the best (non-intrusive) way to secure the LEDs without altering button functionality. Not to mention figuring out how you are going to solder breadboard wire to surface mount LEDs.
