Ndure questions before I mod...

Hi, I'm a noob, and have a few questions about the Ndure Installer. I have recently soft moded a ps2, and had little to no problems with it, so I figure modding the xbox should be no different. Although I do realize the two mods are two completely different beasts. I have done quite a bit of research and I know that I want to use the ndure installer. I have mechassault, non platinum hits version, and am going to make my own usb connection cable so that I can use my thumb drive to load the installer to the xbox. Here are the questions which are still remaining:

-What is the best and or latest version of the ndure installer? ( I heard 1.1.1 was the best, but I'm seeing 2.0 and up on some sites, although I figure these are modified ndure files, not modified by Krayzie)

-Can I update to the 5960 dashboard version without getting an xbox live game from Halo 2 and up? Like can I just plug up to my ethernet cable I use for the net, and update the dash that way, if so, how do I do this? I assume that mechassault non platinum version doesn't inlcude this dash update?

-Do I have to update the kernel maually as well, if so do I follow the same process as for my dash, and this installs it, or is this done completely seperate? How do I go about doing this, if it is done seperately.

-Does XBMC come packaged with Ndure installer, or do I have to find that seperately too? What is the latest version of XBMC?

-Where is the best place for the files I'm going to need, like ndure installer and such, the "usual places" I assume?

-Which is better, EvoX or UnleashX, I want the one with the most stuff, I don't care which is easiest to use, I can learn to use anything, even if it's slightly complicated. Which has the most functions, and which is more functional?

-I really don't wanna brick an xbox, because I'm going out to buy one just to soft mod it. What are the chances of me doing this with ndure installer? If I brick it, can I simply recover it, just like putting in a new hard drive with the (linux?) recovery/wipe method for adding a new hard drive?

I know this is a lot of questions, but I know there are a lot of knowledgeable people on here who don't mind sharing their wisdom :)
    thanx in advance

I don't use the mechassault exploit.. I have sen it be unstable, but that may be the older versions.

the most stable dash you can use is evox.. unleash while having heaps and heaps of functions is sorely lacking in others. With softmods I believe that stability of the dash is the most vital attribute, with functionality coming second.
You can load other dashboards as applications at any time from evox, and believe.. some of the other dashboards are very unstable.. xbmc breaks regularly especially if you start messing about with skins..

There you go.. I would use evox, certainly until you find your feet and get confident with editing xml files and have your eeprom safely backed up off your xbox on a disk or pc drive.

Evox was the dash I was leaning more towards, so now I know which dash I'm going to use, thanx :)
