    Hi,
I am looking to install the firmware for my 2500a drive that "makes" it a 2510 DL. The only firmware links to Herrie's firmware page are dead. Anyone know where I can get this and is it recommended?

A lot of folks trashed their drives with that hack. With an NEC 3520 going for under $50 and DL media still commanding $6 to $7 apeice why chance it with a hacked drive that wasn't built for DL burning? Just a thought :)

Thanks for the info. I will definatly look into it. Quick follow up question. The main reason I want to upgrade the firmware is because some disks I put into the drive it wont even detect. This is mainly on disks that have a few scratches but run fine on house DVD players. Think its just going bad or being picky?

Thanks again for the 3520 info. Gonna research it right now.

It could be either one. How many burns have you had through the drive? If it's a heavily used one it's quite possible the laser is becoming weak then again some drives simply don't like scratched media. Has it always been picky or is it a recent problem?
