I have an NEC 3520. It has worked great for me but I recently noticed that it is not running with Ultra DMA, but instead Multi Word DMA. I have system set to "DMA if available".

I did change my firmware to use liggys so that I could change the booktype to DVD ROM. I did not check this to see if this was the cause.

I have uninstalled the drive and restarted to try and get it to change.

I believe my signature should show the rest of my system that might provide a reason for this. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

go into device manager. If you are using windows xp go into start bar and right click on my computer then click on properties, then click on hardware. you will be in device manager. Go into IDE controlers and check from there. you should be able to check the drop down window (uncheck let bios determine box) and see what the highest setting you can goto and choose from there. hope this helps.

I have the 3520 drive and have used it with liggy and dees firmware and it rips fast, no coasters ever and it burns most 8x media at 16x. I love this drive. Having problems with my 3550 now though.
