You have all helped in the past and this is a real duzy. I multirecord CDs with 2 lite-ons and one sony. I have absolutely no probs but, when I add the NEC DVD recorder, (newest, top of the line) with all firmware upgrades and patches. I get a write error message on the dvd drive only, all the other drives work fine. I even sent it back, got a new one and the same thing happens, which leaves me to belive that this DVD burner sucks ass. Now, I made sure that all the DMA controllers were enabled, even though the log seems not to think so. I even slowed down the process to 24X. All my ATAPI drivers are upto date. Hi there, Is this nVidia Drivers ? I've heard there's issues with nVidia Drivers and Nero. Usually, this is what we see with XP: File 'Drivers\atapi.sys': Ver=5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158), size=95360 bytes, created 3-8-2004 22:59:44 (Adapter driver for rec) DMA is OFF on all your peripherals. http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/DMA.html Have you tryed burning like at 8x and see if this works... I am not sure if the DMA option is available if you use nVidia drivers, but I would fix the DMA problem 1st, and/or burn at a lower speed until all the problems are resolved. I never burn over 16x since the buffer needs to refill before it continues, so burning between 16x and 40x it probably almost the same time.
Well, thanks for your suggestions, but the same thing is happening. I thought it would be a problem between the nvidia ide and the nec dvd drive, but no luck!!! If you read this, do not buy nec optical drives!!!! Hi, I had the same problem. I assume you are using Norton Internet Securities? I do & discovered if I disabled it + Anti virus (only when off line)when using Nero & this drive, that I would not get any error messages & failures. It took me about 3 weeks & aprox 20 different burning packages, before I discovered this.. Marama32
