Hi, I recieved some media that would not be burned by my drive, and checking the NEC website confirms that the AN31 code my media carries will not be burned by this particular drive.. Is there anyway i can overcome this by updating the firmware, say? or would updating the firmware not add other disc codes to the drive?
Hi there, http://www.necus.com/support/ On the NEC Website, latest firmware for the NEC-1300A is v1.0b These days, new firmware supports new media and new burning speed. You should definitly try to find the latest firmware for your burner. ================================================================ Found this on a website: Compatibility: Sony, Pioneer, LG, Panasonic, Lite-On & Optiwrite DVD recorders. NEC ND-1300 (using firmware 1.08) Media Code: AN31 v1.08 ? I only see v1.0b from the NEC US website, maybe in Europe theirs a newer version ? ================================================================ Found this from a site I can't read (I only read French and English): http://www.necd.de/software/1198_Firmware_ND-1300A_WIN108.zip [F/W revision Brands] 1.08 - 08-Oct-2003 following medias added: ---------------------------------------- DvD+R: OPTODISC (4x) DAXON(ACER) (4X) OPTODISC (2.4x) Digital Disc Dessau (2.4x) OPTODISC (2.4x) DAXON(ACER) (2.4x) ---------------------------------------- DvD-R: AMC (4X) Infosmart (4x) LONGTEN (4X) inter axial (4X) OPTODISC (4X) Gigastorage Digital Disc Dessau (1x/ 2x) Gigastorage (2x) D VISION (2x) ---------------------------------------- DvD-RW: CMC (2X) ---------------------------------------- CD-R: SONY (16X) MBI (16X) MPO (16X)
Thanks for your help, i think this would adress my issue, the only thing is, at the bottom of the page http://support.necsam.com/oem/downloads/flashfirmware/readme.asp?ID=5 It states "The above NEC firmware upgrades [bold]should not be used[/bold] with external USB / FireWire drives or with OEM drives from HP, DELL, Medion, Fujitsu, Siemens, Gateway, [bold]or any other OEM manufacturer.[/bold] If you wish to update the firmware on an OEM drive, please contact the dealer or manufacturer." My drive is OEM, eMachines (UK) to be precise. the whole emachines experience has been shitty, right from when i opened the box, and found some employee had taken one of the sticks of ram for themselves. Should i use this firmware regardless, or badger emachines with emails asking for firmware?
