Could you tell me where to find a firmware upgrade for the NECDVD+-RW ND-6500A or tell me how to check if i have the latest version already. It came with my dell inspiron 6000 not a seperate buy. thanks

those firmwares are for seperate drives not for the drives that came with my dell inspiron 6000. it didnot work
If the above mentioned sites did not give you workable firmware for your NEC drive, then you probably have an OEM version. My first suggestion is to go back to your manufacturer Dell and see if they have a firmware upgrade for your drive. Also you might look at this site below which may have an unofficial firmware for your Dell OEM drive. http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?category=14&manufactor=23 Please note that flashing firmware has its risks. I would check with Dell first for any official firmware before risking a hacked version.
