    Are your friends in the same country or another country? In other words, are you all on the same format, NTSC or PAL and in the same region? What are the error messages they receive?

    If the above doesn't apply, try burning at 4X to get a good quality burn.

    You could also try using +R media and booktyping to DVD ROM.

    Is your burner firmware up to date?

    Sony media manufactured in Japan is great. That manufactured in Taiwan is still very good. However some burners have problems with the Sony 16X media manufactured in Taiwan. Have you tried a different brand of media like Verbatim?

    Is your Sony media labeled as made in Japan or made in Taiwan? If the latter, maybe try some Verbatim +R and burn at 4X.

    At what speed have you been burning?

    Since you use Nero, post the NeroHistory log for one of your burns. The log is divided into sections, one for each attempted burn. Post only one section. If you haven't changed anything, post the last section only. Each section begins with a header followed by your name and Nero serial number. Be sure to delete both your name and serial number before posting. The NeroHistory files is in one of these paths depending upon the version of Nero you're using.

    Nero 6: Program Files -> Ahead -> Nero -> NeroHistory
    Nero 7: Program Files -> Nero -> Nero7 -> Core -> NeroHistory
