I just got my new scanner Canon LiDE 60 and its really nice...Except i got it in Japan and all the drivers and software is in Japanese, i downloaded drivers and ScanGear Starter from canon.com and the scanner work great except i cant manage to scan and save it as a .doc or something similar so i can edit the texts that i scan...It scans it all as image file and there is no option i found that lets you chose to scan as a text file...The closes i got was a PDF file, but i dont want that. Please help:(

    Thanks

The PDF files that are saved are not just image files, they have text embedded in them so you may be able to use a utility to extract the text from them. According to the Canon website, this scanner is supplied with Omnipage SE on CD which is the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software you need but if you have got a Japanese only version it will not recognise English characters. If you can install Omnipage SE from the CD, there may be an option to change the installation language, otherwise you will have to buy some OCR software.
