I have been downloading allot of tv episodes and usually use Virtualdub to edit them so I can then join the eposodes and burn them to DVD, but recently most of the TV episodes are coming in as Xvid and I cannot use Virtualdub to edit them so what is a program I can use so i can take out the commercials and other editing.

Installing the XviD codec (or FFDSHOW, VFW Configuration, XviD enabled) should work.
If the DivX codec is installed, that should also allow VirtualDub to load the files.
Since you will only be clipping the files and using Direct Stream Copy, they will save with the original XviD codec.

My own opinion is to download a codec as required - not a codec pack.

Instead of downloading codecs or installing a codec pack, consider using AviDemux.
It has the editing capabilities and the codecs are self contained (it does not install system codecs).
