I bought a Gateway with the Vista program from BestBuy last year. I'm just over my warranty so I can't send it in for repair, but I've been told that the vid card is bad & it would be best if I just bought a new laptop.... Really?? It seems a little ridiculous that I can't just buy a new video card & have it replaced.... I need some help/advise on what to do.... please! Thanks!
do you know if the video card is intergrated? If it is then thats why they tell you it would be better to buy a new one otherwise you would have to replace your whole motherboard. Parts and labor could cost you the same as a new laptop.
laptop video cards are not replaceable by normal means. there are no laptops video cards that you can buy in the stores. they are different in each manufacturer, and possibly model. you have a very slim chance of finding the video card you need online. you can either send it in to the manufacturer, and pay a fee, or get a whole new laptop.
look just dont risk it...if i were you i would trade the laptop for as much cash as i can get then use that to get a new or used laptop...all that you would have to pay is the difference...
