Hi Guys, I have recently ving problems with my laptop, as keepin getting pop-ups (celldorado, credit cards , casinos etc), and is operating very slowly and seems to be constantly busy.. I have run AVG which found 3 viruses which have be removed along with lots of warnings. I have also run adaware which found 3 maliscous files which have been removed. I have also used spyware terminator and removed any infeced obects. I am still having problems, and was wondering what the next step to take to get my laptop back to usual? I have seen a lot of people on this forum using HiJackThis, shall i run this? An experts opinion on this would be greatly appreciated... zxcv784 p.s If it helps I'm running windows vista home edition on a sony vaio VGN-38Z

Disable system restore, boot in safe mode, and then scan with these scanners. I don't mean to be critical or opinionated, but AVG, Ad aware, and SPyware Terminaor don't have very good detection. It's granted that they can detect major malware, but as for the uncommon ones, there's no way that these programs can detect them. As for Spyware tErminator, I suggest that you get that off your system, as it does not base it's detection on signature, but rather, position of the file on the hard drive.
