Hello. I´m having problems backing up my dvd movies. Here´s what I use: Aopen dvd recorder. AnyDvd CloneDVD or Nero recode 2 Sometimes it actually works but most of the time it doesn´t. The result varies. Sometimes I get errormessages during encoding, sometimes during burnig disc. But even when I get the "successfully finished burnig dvd" it allmost never work on my dvd player. Sometimes I get "bad disc" and sometimes it plays the intro before stopping alltogetather. I´ve tried different players but with the same result. I´m close to giving up. Anyone have a clue?
What brand of media are you using? This could be your problem for bad burns and DVD's that wont work or skip and freeze during playback in your DVD Player. Of course this will not help get rid of the errors that you get during the Transcoding of the DVD. Do you have an updated version of AnyDVD? If so try putting in the DVD and then right click on the AnyDVD RedFox in bottom right hand corner and choose to Rip DVD Video to hard disc. This will rip the Video_TS/Audio_TS files to your hard drive. Then load up that video folder it rips into CloneDVD2 or Recode2 which ever 1 you use. Also if you have cheap media you need to get media that has better quility. Plus make sure your DVD burrner Firmware is up to date. Burn your DVD's at 4x no need to go any slower and no need to go faster. Burning at a fast speed can also create bad read errors on the disc. I have alos found it helpfull to custom set the output size of the DVD to 4300. That way the burn wont burn all the way to the edge of the disc. Those are my sugestions on things you can try to do to fix the issues you have.
Thank you for quick reply. My media is probably not of good quality. I have burned discs at no lower than 8x. I will allso check the version of AnyDVD and set the output size. Many good tips here Checked around for info on firmware. Not quite sure what version of AOpen I have. I should allso inform you that the movie src. is on another dvd-drive than AOpen and is older. Can this be an issue as well? Is this drive maybe in need of firmware update as well? I´m not at my computer so I cannot see what kind of drives I have. Never really thought about that.
As usual, my recommendation list of tools are FREE (DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker) and I've never ever encountered/experienced any issue(s) whatsoever. All you ever need is the latest from DVDFAB Decrypter (one of the greatest FREE ripper at the moment) to rip the movie (new released) into your hard drive (it takes 12 - 15 minutes to rip) and then once it's completed, open up VobBlanker (one of the strongest craps/junks processing free tool) and do the following: (1) INPUT = browse to hard drive and load the VIDEO_TS.IFO that DVDFAB Decrypter ripped earlier (2) OUTPUT = make a new VIDEO_TS folder on your hard drive (for example if the movie is Narnia, then called it Narnia Blanker and a sub-folder VIDEO_TS inside Narnia) (3) click "PROC.ALL" at the right (4) click "PROCESS" at the bottom Now sit tight and VobBlanker should be done within 5 minutes. Once VobBlanker is completed, choose any of your desire transcoders or encoders and the rest is history. Best of lucks to you and happy burning!
Ok. This is what I did. I updated my firmware I downloaded the latest version of AnyDVD. I downloaded the latest version of ClonDVD. I downloaded the latest version of DVD Shrink. I downloaded the latest version of DVDFAB Decrypter. I downloaded the latest version of VobBlanker I allready have Nero Recode 2. Tryed them all and allso did the following. I ajustet the output size to 4300. I burned DVD at 4X. I used Sony DVD-R. I did deepanalisys before coding. The whole prosess took over 3 hours. No matter what software, the results are the same: CRAP!!! Picture and sound skips and looks scrambled 50% of the time.Clone DVD didn´t even finish burning. A friend of mine use DVD shrink and AnyDVD with no knowledge, no ajusting output size, burning at max speed, not knowing what brand dvd he uses and never heard the word firmware. NEVER A BAD DISC!!! I will soon have spent more money making bad discs than on my dvd recorder. I have now given up. Thanks for trying guys...
OK. So I didn´t give up after all. Can´t seem to let this go. I tryed to burn a movie that I allready burned successfully before. Now that didn´t work either. So I tryed something else. I "burned" the dvd to a folder on my hard-drive instead. Just to check. That worked beautifully. In other words whatever it is it seems to be the burning process. Any ideas? "George is getting frustrated"
OK. Tryed my old dvd player and it worked. My new dvd player obviously does not like dvd movie backups. Things that I recorded myselfe (slidshows and handycam) and converted to dvd format works on my new player but not the old one and vice verca. I´m just gonna hafto keep my old dvd-player for now. So my advice is: CHECK ANOTHER STANDALONE PLAYER BEFORE PULLING YOR HAIR OUT
