Hey everyone!! I really need some expert help on this one. Last week, I turned on my xbox and it didn't went on. Instead, it turned off and smoke came out of it. I checked it out and it's the power supply n the xbox that's messed up. Both my modchip and harddrive where ok. I went back to Future Shop to get it fixed, but they told me that my warranty was off because I've already opened it. So now I'm left with a non-working xbox. Does anyone knows if I can fix it myself by ordering the parts I need or is it unfixable??
Well if you saw smoke then you should assume something burned up! I would guess it was the gpu(graphics processer) or cpu that took a dump. You can look to get a new motherboard but first I would make sure you know what part is broken. I know the xbox is droping $30 this week so a new one might be cheaper, the only downfall is they are harder to mod so take that into consideration.
could be your PSU (power supply unit), these are not rare at all with the xbox and is the main problem when something frys or blows up
