Hello All, ...I have an ISO video DVD that's coded for Region 4. I want to burn it to a DVD as a Region 1, then chuck the ISO file. I'm a patient, advanced computer user...Alcohol can burn it in 8 minutes, but it has no way to change the Region Code...does anybody know how to do this? I tried IFOedit, but it gave me an error. And yes, I've tried DVD Shrink; it doesn't allow one to change the Region Code before burning... Thanx for any replies, Grampa
Dvd Shrink can do it. Drag and drop the ISO into it. Click Backup!. On the small window that pops up, click DVD Region; make sure the Region Free box is ticked. And lastly, click OK. Or use Dvd Flick.
Yep, yer right 7thSinger, DVD Shrink did the trick - It just took some thought (!), and recognizing the fact that DVD Shrink has a "no compression" option. For the benefit of thousands of n00bs everywhere, here's how I did it, step-by-step: 1. Extract the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders of the ISO image to a folder on your hard drive with our favorite ISO app. I like UltraISO. 2. In DVD Shrink, open the folder that you put the TS folders in. 3. If the data will fit on the DVD type it's to be burned onto, be sure to choose "NO COMPRESSION" in DVD Shrink's Compression Settings 4. Click the Backup! button. A dialog will appear. 5. Click the DVD Region Tab, and uncheck all the other regions except Region 1. Leave the provider box alone. 6. Burn it! Now, the DVD will play in your Home Theater DVD player without the "not the correct Region" error. Grampa
You can skip the UltraIso step. DVD Shrink can open the ISO, no need to extract the Video_TS folder (7thSinger suggested that)
...Yes, I saw that I also missed a couple of steps, for European DVDs: 6. Shrink it! DVD Shrinker will create a new ISO, with the Region flag set to 1. 7. <insert instructions on how to change video from PAL to NTSC here> 8. Burn the resulting <data | ISO> to a DVD. Now, the DVD will play in your Home Theater DVD player without the "not the correct Region" error, and in the correct NTSC format. So now I'm working on the last two steps: converting the video data from PAL to NTSC without loss of quality, before burning to disc... Any suggestions on how to do that would be appreciated... ...Never mind, I figured it out...Here's the revised, step-by-step that I've put together. Moderators, if this is the wrong place to put this, let me know the correct place to post it: 1. Rename your ISO file to something else, like whatever_Region4.iso. 3. Open the file into DVD Shrink. If the data will fit on the DVD type it's to be burned onto, be sure to choose "NO COMPRESSION" in DVD Shrink's Compression Settings. 4. Click the Backup! button. A dialog will appear. 5. Click the DVD Region Tab, and uncheck all the other regions except Region 1. Leave the provider box alone. 6. Let 'er rip ...I normally choose the same path and same filename as the original ISO, then add the new region number, like whatever_Region1.iso. DVD Shrink will now transcribe your ISO video movie data to a new ISO file, which is the same as the one you started with but now with the correct Region Number. It's really fast, no longer that 3 or 4 minutes or so on my machine. 7. Mount the Region 1 ISO file in Alcohol or some other app like that 8. Open the mounted ISO file into ConvertXtoDVD. In the burning options, be sure that NTSC has been chosen. Place a blank DVD into the burner. 9. Let 'er rip ...ConvertXtoDVD will then convert the data from PAL to NTSC, and then burn the resulting conversion onto the blank DVD. ...next thing I want to figure out is how to customize ConvertXtoDVD's menues... Thanx to everyone who helped me out Grampa
