hello, I am trying to capture video off of my canon optura xi camcorder, i am trying to use a firewire express card and either movie maker or premier pro neither work, it seems my PC (vista) simply cannot detect the camcorder, my xp desktop with on board firewire can see it but i would really like to use my laptop, i have spoken with canon support but alas they are useless, any help is much appreciated
This may seem like obvious question but was camcorder on or off while plugged into Vista? Are you sure theres a vista driver for it? Have you tried the windows movie maker program that comes with most versions of windows and Vista? Are you positive your movie maker programs work with Vista?
first of all i followed the directions above perfectly so yes it was turned on, no there are no drivers for the camcorder for vista, canon seems to think that vista does not need them, and i am using windows movie maker that came on my computer, and i also tried adobe premier pro cs4 and that could not capture either
