Hi, I recently ordered a Starview 4 usb box off the internet. I was told by a friend that this was the one to go for. I'm based in South Dublin and have n*l at the moment. Unfortunatly, the company selling me the box e-mailed this morning to say they had some problem with the supplier, and offered me the following alternatives at a discounted rate: Unfortunatly, I'm a little lost on the whole area of boxes and they want a reply off me pretty quick. I just want something that works, is reliable and isin't complicated. So which box is best for me from these options? And is Eurovox a better quality pic like they say? Appreciate any replies, Enda.
LOL they really know their stuff, ......not. The Ex1000 is a cut down version of the Max V and doesn't offer the single tuner PVR capability of the SV4. And lacks RF output. But is as said a nice simple box. Are you looking for a PVR or a standard DVB C box?
I'm just looking for an actual box that gives me the channels, I don't want any hard drive recording etc. What would be the best box do you think? Eurovox Max V?
Max V has been discontinued by the main distributor, (yes there are still some around). So I would recommend the EX1000, if you just want the normal facilities.
Another quick question for you m8 while I'm on here... I was in a friends house recently and he had his Eurovox all rigged up with SS up and running. however, there were black bars on the top and bottom of the screen which made it look like a 4:3 image stretched. Am I right in saying this is configurable in the options/menu/settings on the Eurovox? I'm just curious because I have another friend who has a Starview Box and he gets a fullscreen pic. Speaking of picture size actually. When you pick up the channels, are they in widescreen or 4:3?
Yes they can configure WS in the menu by going to TV config. But it depends on whether they have one of the later firmware revisions. Most are transmitted in WS but some are 4:3 or 14:9.
