first of all, i want to say hi to you all, i'm new to this forum!
i'm thinking about getting a dual layer burner in the next few days. read many threads where people were told to wait, but i need a dvd burner anyway and DLs cost just a little more at the moment. i'm considering either a nec nd-2510a or a lg gsa-4120b. does anybody have experience with these drives? any other suggestions? want to use it mainly to backup my ps2-games.

    i'm grateful for any advice
    greets,
    shadow

I strongly advise against getting the LG 4120B. More people have problems with LG drives than any other make, then factor in expensive DL coasters and you get my drift......

NEC seems top be a decent make and the Sony DRU-700A is worth considering too.

Well i've had quite the opposite to that.
I have never had a program with LG drives at. In my current system i have LG DVD+-RW, LG CDRW, LG-DVD Rom, all working fine, and they have had their fair share of work and still running smooth.

In the 18 or so comptuers i have built over the last couple of years, i have put LG's into them and they have worked fine.

Once the DL Disc's come down, ill be buying a LG Dual Layer burner

    Regards

I just ordered the Nec 2510a, should be here this weekend. I will post an update if I can find some dl media ( kinda hard to find in these parts). I have the 2500a now and it works great, never made a coaster.
Newegg.com has the Nec 2510a for less than $80 with free shipping.
