I'm helping my younger brother to create a Highlights video to send out to coaches. I've never worked with any kind of video editing software and I really don't know anything about this stuff. I have a friend who sort of knows PC's and he said Windows Movie Maker would do the job. Problem is WMM wouldnt read the movie. SO i extracted the video files using DVD Shrink and I got an error mesage for a codec. Si look around for said codec and got nothing instead I was told to scrap WMM and go with a different program like Ulead or something like that but i'm not sure. As we speak im going to try and work it with Nero Vision 4. Can anyone give me some insight and help as to how i can do this?
If the clips are all from the same DVD, you can use the DVD Shrink 'Re-author' setting to choose the parts you want and save it as a new DVD compilation. Open the files, click 'Re-author' Drag 'Title 1' from right to left side of the window. Right click on it and from the sub-menu 'Set start/end frames' and select the first clip. Drag 'Title 1' from right to left again and repeat. When finished, click 'Backup'. If you wish, you can add more clips from another ripped disk by using the 'DVD Browser' on the right side of the window.
If your finished edit is going to be under 30 minutes, you can use the demo of videoredotvsuite. It has a max 30 minute limit on the demo, many times that is good enough for a highlight video. all you have to do is browse to where your video_TS folder is and open it with videredo, next just edit out the scenes you want to delete and save the remainder, this program saves without reencoding so you won't lose any quality.
