Alright, so my problem is fairly simple I just can't figure out the answer. I was told to use hijackthis but it is kind of spanglish to me and a bit overwhelming. My problem is such: I cannot access any sites regarding windows updates. This includes automatic updates, the catalog, etc...

I don't see anything out of the ordinary. Does your website get re-directed or does it hangup on the page?

It's not being redirected, it says on occasions that it has located the site, and then it doesn't ever go through, just says webpage is unavailable when I go to any Microsoft sites. Also, I do not have Symantec on my computer, yet I cannot remove the files. I have tried going into internet options and where it said "damaged" I repaired everything, also went into cmd prompt to reset automatic updates, but that did not work either. Lastly I tried to see if the site was blocked under internet explorer options and everything seemed perfectly fine. I'm baffled. Any other ideas?

I found it! It's a BHO malware. I missed it the first time.

    O2 - BHO: WormRadar.com IESiteBlocker.NavFilter - {3CA2F312-6F6E-4B53-A66E-4E65E497C8C0} - C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8\avgssie.dll

Remove or rename avgssie.dll and remove it from the registry. Follow the link it explains in detail what to do.

    http://www.pcsympathy.com/2008/03/08/how-to-remove-any-bho-from-your-computer/

upgrade to IE8 when you get a chance.

    Hello,

I think your system is having registry problems. You should try out with

a registry cleaner. If it doesn't work, that means your system has been

affected by malware because some viruses can work alongside malware to

make detection and removal extremely difficult. You can quarantine that

    in safe mode.
