ok i have a computer thats running windows 98 that loads up but when it gets to the desktop it loads up all the progarms. after that the a little arrow with a hour glass next to it just sits there as if it is still trying to load up something.it stays there for hours not allowing me to click on anything or do anything? does anybody know why this is happening and what i can do to fix it?

    thank you

see if it does that in safe mode tho doubt it. do a control-alt-del to see what is not responding.

go into safe mode, than msconfig\startup at the run command. note what stuff is unchecked & checked as you are going to uncheck them all, restart in normal mode to see if it still happens or not. might be a hardware problem but not certain.

start put check marks back on 1 at time & do the restarts till you find the culprit. go back to safemode than to uncheck that 1 & continue the proceedure just in case there might be others.
