I have been trying for the last few days, trying every different method i can think of to get nero to burn a backup of a movie on dvd. I have previously been able to, but recently I keep getting errors....illegal disc error, cyclic something error, stuff like that, the messege tells me it cannot write to disc. I am using maxell 4.7 gig dvd. I also have a duel layer dvd burner, which by the way i have never once successfully made a duel layer dvd. here is my error log with the most recent attempt. please take a look and let me know if anything pops out, thanks a lot Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: File 'Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=4.71 (0002), size=45056 bytes, created 7/17/2002 10:20:56 AM ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 11/2/2004 1:54:32 PM NT-SPTI used Nero API version: 7.0.1.4 Using interface version: 6.3.1.4 Installed in: C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\ Application: ahead\Nero - Burning Rom Internal Version: 7, 0, 1, 4 Recorder: <_NEC DVD+-RW ND-6500A> Version: 203D - HA 1 TA 0 - 7.0.1.4 Adapter driver: <IDE> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ? === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : WDC WD600VE-75HDT0 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : _NEC DVD+-RW ND-6500A atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : NERO IMAGEDRIVE2 2.26 imagedrv Port 2 ID 0 DMA: Off === CDRom-Device-Map === _NEC DVD+-RW ND-6500A D: CDRom0 NERO IMAGEDRIVE2 E: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 83886080 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 1023MB (1047784kB) Free physical memory: 646MB (661652kB) Memory in use : 36 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 31.5.2006 NeroAPI 3:32:53 PM #1 Phase 112 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 278 DVD-Video files reallocation started 3:32:53 PM #2 Phase 114 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 278 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 3:32:53 PM #3 Phase 111 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 278 DVD-Video files sorted 3:32:54 PM #4 Text 0 File ThreadedTransfer.cpp, Line 525 ReadBuffer-Pipe got 262144KB of Memory 3:32:54 PM #5 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 124 Reader running 3:32:54 PM #6 Text 0 File AudioCompilationImpl.cpp, Line 842 DRM: StartDrmRecording(RealRec:1, ImageRec:0, Copies:1) DRM: Beginning burn process. 3:32:54 PM #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File Geniso.cpp, Line 3312 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 3:32:54 PM #8 ISO9660GEN -11 File Geniso.cpp, Line 3312 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 3:32:54 PM #9 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3342 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 3:32:56 PM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 279 Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB) Last address to be written: 2286175 (508:02.25, 4465MB) 3:32:56 PM #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 291 Write in overburning mode: NO 3:32:56 PM #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2578 Recorder: _NEC DVD+-RW ND-6500A, Media type: DVD-R Disc Manufacturer: Prodis - cF02 Disc Application Code: 64, Disc Physical Code: 193 3:32:56 PM #13 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 458 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 3:32:56 PM #14 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 847 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 () 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 2286176 (2286176) = #2286176/508:2.26 relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/ required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 2286176 blocks [D: _NEC DVD+-RW ND-6500A] -------------------------------------------------------------- 3:32:56 PM #15 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1059 Prepare recorder [D: _NEC DVD+-RW ND-6500A] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; This version contains a few bugs, , I recommend you uninstall, run this clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then install 7.0.8.2 a more stable version from here http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845 Not top quality discs, try some Verbatim or Sony (made in japan) You have Roxio insatalled , it clashes with Nero, I would run this Roxio zapper http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml Increase burn to 4X
thanks for getting back to me, although i was unable to download the nero clean tool, i tried in both firefox and ie, and it would start downloading or even open, got any other ideas, i will get better dvds though. Also was there anything in there that you thought my indicate my burner is broken? or any other system settings not right?? thanks for your help
No, I dont believe your burner is broken, if you follow all the suggestions I have made I am sure you will be able to successfully resume burning.
thanks, at this point, i actually figured out that there is something wrong with the ftp for nero, and i went through the process that you and nero said, and it uninstalled it, and was going to reinstall it, but could not get an interent connection because it initiated the setup right after it restarted my computer but before my wireless connection was made (before any programs popped up on my desktop) but i think it actually helped getting rid of nero, cause i was able to for the first time, sucessfully make a dual layered dvd with roxio with no problems. Thanks again
well now i have another problem, since i unistalled nero and installed the clean tool and then reinstalled nero 7 from the link you gave me, im getting the same installation problem i had when i first got nero, i am able to get past the first stage of insallation where it is adding cab or cad files or something, than a messege pops up, and says it is unable to create the necessicary temp file in folder C/Documents...... please check if you have write permission for this folder. A few months ago, when i first had trouble installing it, i called tech support for the same problem, and after calling them like 10 times one person finally knew what to do, i remember it being something to do with making the hidden files shown, but i cant remember what else....so now im stuck also as i said before i was able to make a dual layered dvd using roxio, the problem was when it would ask for the write speed it didnt have anything to choose, it was an empty listbox, and right after i unistalled nero i opened roxio and the write speed was shown and i was able to make a dvd, but i tried it again with another dvd and once again there was no write speed to choose...like nothing was there it was an empty listbox, kinda hard to explain but i hope you know what i mean..... thanks, im really lost, right now
