ok i feel so helpless now...on the iPod screen it has this folder icon with an exclamation mark above the website www.apple.com/support/iPod. I went to that website, downloaded the iPod software again and when i try to update it theres a message saying Ipod service error. omg, i'm panicking right now cuz there were like 167 songs in my iPod but only 34 in my library (after a computer virus my data was lost)...which means that i can only update those 34 songs and not the other songs.....sigh...what can i do now? the stinkin iPod won't update
Hey. I am afraid that you are going to have to try restoring the iPod using the Apple Updater. Don't forget that restoring the iPod will erase all files on the iPod, so you will have to redownload the songs. If you purchased the songs via iTunes, you can go to Advanced=>Check for Purchases. Then it will give you all your purchased files. Apple Updater: http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
ya i noe...i can't even update nor resore cuz the error message shows up like right away and i can't even press anything. i've downloaded the software like a hundred times already and it still soen't work....plz help
I had a simular problem to this udating/restoring thing, and all I did was I found the HP USB Storage format tool, downloaded it, reformated my iPod(use FAT32 when reformating) and after about 45 min, my iPod updater/restorer actully recegnized my iPod, and I was able to restore, but only that, I did lose all of my songs, however. But I think I know how to take the songs off your iPod and put them back onto your library, just plug it in, open itunes, look for your iPod name and click on it, then just click and drag the songs you want into your library(you can hold the shift key can click and drag all of your music if you want, or you can use the ctrl key, which lets you pick each song individualy) Or, if that doesnt work, you can use Ephpod, which rips the music off your ipod back into your library, if the idea that i suggested doesnt work. Good Luck!
