    I was in Best Buy looking at DL media. Due to the price I don't want to make any mistakes (coasters). Wanted to find some Rewriteable disks with this thought in mind to practice on. That way you could reuse any mistakes! The sales guy at Best Buy told me the DL disks probably won't be around much longer. And that there is NO rewriteable DL media available; only the one time disks.

    So, I didn't buy anything that day. Oh, well.

    The reason the sales guy quoted me about DL media going by the wayside was rather rude (or so I thought). He said the only people buying DL media was so they could pirate movies! I suppose most forum members would be offended by that remark. I was a little irked.

    @rulisky

    Don't let the saleman get you down. They are so clueless at Best Buy. You know way more about media than they could hope to.

    I've been using Memorex 2.4X DL which DVD Identifier reveals are Ritek's. I've gotten these @ Bestbuy on sale for 15/$30. I've burned 45 of these and haven't had a single coaster. Verbatim is of course great media too, been watching for those on sale.

    Wow, you are pretty lucky if you have burned that many Memorex's without a single coaster. Have you watched the movies you've burned, just wondering how they play.

    I always view every disc and they have been fine. As I stated these are Ritek rebranded so the stigma usually associated w/ Memorex discs does not apply to these.

I don't want to offend anyone who works at Best Buy but damn, hire more knowledgeable employess for christs sakes,geez!! Please, a Ps2 port on a computer is not a Playstation 2?? Optical Cable, what's that???? These are just some of the replys I've recieved at Best Buy from some of the employess there, hilarious to say the least.....

    I wouldn't listen to anything a Best Buy employee says. I'm sure they're nice people but I still won't listen to em'.

    As for dual layer media I don't use anything other than verbatim. I bought memorex dual layers and had 4 coasters out of about 10 disks. Switched to verbs...and only had 1 coaster out of 50 so far.

    I recently purchased some Verbatim DL Singapore printable media and was wondering what speed most are using with success. Since this media has a 2.4 rated burn speed and what I have been hearing mostly here at AD is to burn at half the rated speed. Are the folks that are getting great burn results using 2.4X or 1X? Haven't had much experience using these printable Verbatim 2.4x DL discs and was wondering if the 2.4X burn speed is too fast for this media.

    2.4X is ok to burn the verbs. That's what I use.

    Anybody use Fujifilm? I just bought some DVD+r DLs at BestBuy (oops!) and they don't seem to be compatible with my DVD drive. I've got an Dell 4700 with an OEM NEC 3450A DVD drive, and have flashed the latest firmware. Any ideas if it's my drive or are these discs just bad?

    Thanks in advance.
