Hi, I am really racking my brains trying to figure this out. Unfortunatley I am really new at the HD stuff. I have a RCA HD50LPW42, and connected my PS3 with a HDMI - DVI cable. The DVI channel can do 1080i. I set up the PS3 to do 1080i, but when I start the game, it reverts to 480p. Its hard playing knowing that I'm not getting the visuals I should. If anyone could help, I'd really appriciate it.
There were some issues I heard of about the PS3 not negotiating well with certain models of t.v.s. The PS3 will not output full hd to certain models. Search the forums here at AD, I'm sure I read it here.
Which game are you trying to play? Most PS3 games max out at 720p and if your TV doesn't do 720P then it reverts back to 480i.
Did a search of the RCA HD50LPW42. According to here: http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:RCA HD5...TsRSXAD;_ylu=X3oDMTBiZ2o2Y3ZwBHNlYwNzaWJzcGVj the RCA supports only 720p. Strange.
Thats not what they are saying. 720p (1280x720p) is the supported resolution for the screen. Meaning that the tv must process (up-convert or down-convert and de-interlace) everything to 1280x720p. The TV excepts 480i/p and 1080i/p as well as 720p. Ced
