I have a softmoded xbox with a 160gb hdd installed, everything is working fine, just need some help or steps on backing-up dvd movis to my new hdd.
If you want them on the HDD you may be able to use DVD2Xbox, that is a great program thhat will copy things strait from the DVD to your HDD. You can get it at torrent sites or http://xbins.org/index.php?action=search&searchtxt=DVD2Xbox that is the program i use to put games on my HDD
yea that would probably be the easiest way i would also recommend gettingxbox media center so u can watch any type of video type like avi, mpeg and all that good stuff plus a full movie in avi form is only about 700 mb to were a dvd is around 4 gigs ouch!!! but u would need to use dvd2xbox if u cant ftp to your box.
would i have to remove my games or my evox, dashdoard that are in stalled in my new hard drive with this program.
Do you now a forumal site that I can get step by step instructions, on installing the dvd2box program, I went to the site and theres about 15-20 programs and don't know which one to get and how to install it right.
My xbox can play DVD movies, I'm trying to backup the movies into the hdd, or is it that I have to install dvd2box or media center for it to be able to save into the harddrive.
dvd2xbox will copy the dvd movie to your hard drive, xbox media center is another application to play other video files like avi, mpeg all that good stuff. tell me what dashboard u have on your xbox and i will walk u through the installation alright dvd2xbox can be found on a few sites also at my tutorial site where my signature is in my download's section.
i would suggest changing to Unleash X it has a built in file explorer and is better. but all u need to do it ftp to your xbox go to your drive where u keep your games probably F make a folder called Apps and then ftp it to that folder.
@tny23 dvd2Xbox and Xbox media center are aplications. Download the latest versions of them and place them into your (Apps) aplication folder which should already be on your Xbox HDD somwhere. You can get them at Xbins. Below is a guide on how to get on Xbins. http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/xbins.php I would also sugest not ripping or playing DVD's on your Xbox. It will fill your 160GB HDD up pretty quick with DVD's ripped to your HDD when each are uasly 5 to 7 GB in size. If you do this you might want to think of ripping the DVD to Xvid so you can fit more on it. Playing your movies off the Xbox DVD Drive will only ware out your drive quicker. Id suggest buying a DVD player at a store and not waist time putting movies on your Xbox. You can get a DVD player with Xvid capibilites for $60 at walmart. But thats just my opinion. @theridges That was good advice about instlling XBMC. I love that program. I used to burn my Xvid movies onto disc and play them on my DVD that suports Xvid. But now I dont even do that I just use XBMC on my Xbox to network to my PC and play the Xvid off my computer HDD. Saves on CD-Rs and so much easier.
yea i got mine linked up to my network too,so i just stream them from my shared (SMB) i love all the capabilites the xbox has.
@tny23 Dude we already told you what to do. So do it!!!!!!!! Download the applications and then place them in your Apps folder on the Xbox HDD.
