So I need to go from the turntable>amp>mackie(12 channel mixer)>PC. Can someone tell me what kind of amp I need since I need to ground the turntable? I can get the Mackie to the PC. Just wandering about a decent amp. Thanx ahead of time.
Forgot to mention that I'm going from the turntable>amp into the Mackie(via red and white RCA jacks((CD/Tape in)) and then into the PC.
a few notes: ground the turntable to the mixer, and you should be fine don't connect the turntable to the CD/line in RCA inputs of the mixer. those are line level inputs. your turntable needs a mic/phono level input, so connect it to the mic channels. you don't need an amp, take the line level output from the mixer to the input of your soundcard
On the back of my turntable is just a red and white RCA out. The inputs on my mackie mixer are 1/4" inserts. The only RCA inputs are on the CD in. Sorry I'm new too truntables but do know my way around mixing boards(not great with the wiring though). Here is a pic of the Mackie-- http://media.zzounds.com/media/brand,zzounds/DFX12_front-3851c9d528e59085829784147dea75a6.jpg Are you saying get an adapter to put over the RCA inputs?
you need to get two XLR female to RCA female connectors, so you can connect your turntable to mic1 and mic 2 inputs. connect the white RCA to mic1 and red RCA to mic2. make sure to pan mic1 to the left and mic2 to the right. then take the tape out RCA outputs to the input of your soundcard. you will need a stereo RCA to stereo 1/8" plug cable for that. you should be able to find these adapters at electronic hobby stores like Fry's or Radio Shack. If not, get them online...its probably cheaper that way anyways.
