I have an RCA Pro8 to play my analog tapes and I understand that I can transfer to digital by connecting to digital camera which I also have a Canon miniDV it also has a SD card slot. Should I record to a tape or the SD card? I would liket to transfer then to my computer. I have laptop toshiba satellite A200/A205. Please help with the connection and process to accomplish my goals. Much appreciated.Thank you. Want to make a dvd.

You need a program, on your computer, that can capture the video. Windows Movie Maker is one that does, but it is junk.

You can download a free program called WinDV, which will capture, using your Canon as a pass through for your RCA. You shouldn't have to record it to the tape or SD card, first.

Your MiniDV camcorder has to have analog inputs. If it does you can digitize your analog video with it. What model camcorder is it?

You are correct, Rich. If makeadvd lives in a European country, his/her camcorder doesn't have that capability.
