I'm having a problem trying to get this thing going. I installed the chip, blue status light works, the xbox starts up w/ a linux type of interface and the dvd tray opens up. i tried burning evox onto 3 types of media...cd-r, cd-rw, and dvd-r. All i can figure out at this point is that the hard drive is locked. i'm sure i'm missing something stupid. please help, thanks.
First you need to download a bios (I'd reccomend Evox M7), not the dashboard. Then burn it to a CD-RW but first rename the bios file to LINUXBIO.BIN. If it doesn't work try putting a file called DUMMY.BIN that is at least 200megs (you can use whatever you wish for that file) and also don't burn it with Joliet
ok, i got you so far...i have the evox m7 bios file. however i'm kinda confused on the burning part. to my understanding i can't burn a .bin file w/ out the .cue so do use xiso to convert it to an xbox image (.iso) or just directly burn the LINUXBIO.bin to the cd-rw as if i'm burning a data cd.
Don't burn the file as an image, burn it as it would be any type of files, directly on the cd in data cd mode, and don't remember to remove the Joliet thing!
alright, i have copied two files (linuxbio.bin and dummy.bin) to a CD-RW w/out the joliet. When i insert that CD into my xbox, it says it's loading and it gets stuck. is it because my dvd drive can't read the CD-RW correctly? if not, what brand of do you recommend? i'm using GQ.
