That is the error you get when using custom firmware and your trying to update to an Official firmware. Dark Alex placed that block in so users wouldn't accidentaly flash Official firmware to the PSP once you had custom firmware on it. Any firmware below 3.71 M33-5 (I think 3.80 M33-1 as well) when using the update function will download official firmware. 3.80 M33-2 and above will download latest custom firmware. Are you wanting to update to Official firmware or are you wanting to update to latest custom firmware?
Do a search on the DADADA error. That is the error you get when your on Custom firmware and you try flashing with Official Firmware. Not all Custom Firmware versions have that block but if you get the DADADA error then the custom firmware you are on has blocked the update of Official Firmware. So before you claim I am wrong do a little research. In order to update to Official firmware you will need to use recovery files to downgrade back to 1.50 or install the official Firmware direct using a Magic Memory Stick + Pandora Battery that allows you to install Official Firmware.
Yeah my bad 3.80 M33 goes to 5. Anyway guys he might not be lieing. I know some have accidentally updated to official firmware before. I didn't and others didn't think it was possible. But I went to the custom firmware they said they was on (Can't remember which 1 it was I think 3.80 M33) and it let me update straight to Official Firmware without the DADADA error. But if you get that error it means the custom firmware is blocking the Official Firmware from updating (Safety Feature).
