    Hey all,

I am having some weird problems trying to compress files using EAC 0.9 Beta and LAME 3.92 (tried 3.91 and 3.93.1 and same result)Im using XP if that makes a difference.

The problem is; Using "--alt-preset standard" setting, my compressed files show as being several Minutes shorter than they are (even though it still seems to have compressed the entire song)and they show as being up to 520kbps

this is the first time ive played with VBR presets, did i do somthing wrong?

    thanx

You are using an audio player that is not fully MPEG-1 Layer 3 (aka MP3) compatible and cant handle VBR correctly. Windows Media Player?

Get a decent player like CoolPlayer or WinAmp. You you want a really hardcore player for audiophiles, then get Foobar2K from here: http://www.saunalahti.fi/cse/foobar2000/
