need help with mobo

ok i need to find a mobo for my friends system he has a dell and we think his mobo is gone

here is the problems it will not boot and when i tried to do a clean install it would not detect the hdd but we took the hdd out and hooked it up in another comp and it worked just fine so we think that the mobo is gone here is all the info i could find on his system

i think that it is socket 478 but not positive

any help will be greatly appreciated

 

Just to let ya know having same problems...Bought new mb today to try and same problem leaning towards cpu now just to let ya know..

 

this comp use to work just fine and just out of nowhere it just would not boot it would only go to the start in safe mode normal mode blah blah blah so i tried to clean install win xp pro but it could not detect the hdd hey ddp its a sata drive so no ide cable

hey helinorth my budds comp has the p4 prescott with ht tech so did u get a mobo that supports both the prescott cpu and ht tech

 

Yes i did and having same probs...Im gonna try a another cpu next... Ic you were booting up in safe mode at least,my hdd dont even spin or post what so ever..It starts to spin when i disconnect the ide...Strange.
