Need help with my LG burner

    hi i have a LG GSA-4163B burner. i have never updated firmware on this or any of my other drives, i want to know if and how i can update my firmware, and if someone can kindly tell me what updating firmware will do to the drive. thanks

    Updating the firmware will improve recording quality for DVD media, the readability for DVD-ROM, R/RW & RAM and DVD RW rewriting ability. U can look for firmware updates @ LG, http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/FIRMWARE/LG/LG-GSA-4163B-firmware-104.shtml and several other places. Just make sure you follow the directions to the letter or you'll fry the drive.

    I have an old LG 4160B which I've never updated the firmware and it makes flawless burns. I also have a new BenQ 1655 which has SolidBurn, which should negate the need to update the firmware.
