Did you put a brand new lens in? Sounds like a dud lens.

Quick question: didi you unsolder the little solder dab on the laser before installing? I got a spare laser and had to remove a glob of solder on the ribon cable (it's a protective contact to help avoid static damage).

    Originals aren't reading either?
Where did you get the lens?
It's quite possible that you got a dud.

Do you know anyone else with a slim you'd be able to try the laser in? I've been fixing slim ps2s since a few months after they came out... haven't had one read ps1 but not ps2 where a new laser didn't fix it.

if you have a diode fix installed, try removing it and see if it works.
