so i've been having this problem for quite some time now, and I'm pretty sure it's ATI's Dec. 2007 driver, because all is well when I remove it. Whenever I try to run any 3d app or even watch a video in Windows (with the Dec. 2007 Driver: "7-12_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_55811" ). The Textures in apps that use 3d are all messed up, and there's even textures missing. and with videos, there's just Lines in columns passing vertically through the video. But all is well when I remove everything that's ATI. I've JUST reformatted my entire hard drive containing windows yesterday. It's either the drivers causing problems or my video card itself. The Odd thing is that there are no driver problems in Ubuntu. The card is detected, the driver is automatically installed, and videos work fine. (cant say anything about games since there aren't really any 3d apps I use on Ubuntu ). oh, and also, I get an error associated with "MOM.exe" whenever I boot up windows XP.

anyone know any WORKING windows XP for a Radeon X300SE ?

EDIT: I'm beginning to think there's no hope for this video card, I tried a driver called "ati_omega_xp2k_48442", and it still gives me the same problem. Here are some screenshots to show exactly what I'm talking about:

This is me Running ATITool when I click the "show 3d view" button. (I haven't overclocked it at all)

    It SHOULD look like this

Almost all the icons have these annoying little lines passing through:

I can't figure out how to screenshot video, but it's like the ones above, only they're sort of green, they're a little more distanced from each other, and they're larger, I just don't know what to do.

My Video card is an ATI Radeon X300SE

It looks like it is the end of your beloved X300. Even though, I have seen that card run fine under XP, and much older ones. Why dont you just roll back to the last working driver you had?

If different driver revisions don't solve it, I think the card's hardware may be knackered - time to find a replacement. My friend has an X300Se working fine in windows using the drivers it came with.

I guess I'm sticking with My Ubuntu until I can get a new card then.

Why dont you just use integrated graphics? Or are you a smart guy and don't use mATX boards heh. Surely you could buy a cheap graphics card if you needed to..theres always a cheap one on eBay.

WiizerFB, you might want to edit out the offensive text, in your first post, before it gets reported to a moderator.

Much better than the X300, but overpriced. I'd recommend going with one of these if you can.

Yeah the 8600 listed is a bit rough. I suggest to look for something that is fairly cheap and will last a long time. Oh and Sam, the link didnt come through haha.

that's more expensive though : / , what's the difference other than it being an ATI card?
