I am new to this forum but was hoping to get some help.

I have an NEC ND-3530A that came with my dell 8400 with the 102B firmware. I was using nero vision to burn tv episodes onto dvd-r discs. This was beginning to cost a lot in disc costs so I wanted to change to dvd-rw discs but they would not burn. So after reading forums I found that updating firmware might help media issues. This helped, I was able to burn a dvd-rw with the 103C firmware. However I was only able to burn using nero burning rom and not nero vision because now nero vision doesn't give me any dvd options just vcd options. The only other thing I have noticed is that my drive shows up in my computer as cd-rom drive and not dvd-rw drive. Just to summarize I need at least 103c fw to be able to burn media however this causes drive to be a cd-rom and this causes nero vision to not let me work with dvd features, however using nero i can burn data dvd's, but I was always kind of partial to nero visions ease of use when encoding avi files and burning discs.

Thanks to anyone who can help and if you need any more information just let me know.

    Hi,
I suspect your flash has 'upset' Windows (and Nero).
Probably you should uninstall the NEC burner from device manager, then reboot. Let it detect and reinstall.
My NEC ND-3540A is listed as DVD/CD-ROM Drive.
I hope you didn't squeak your burner with the flash...
The 1.03C seems newest for your drive :^)
I went to NEC's firmware page, and your drive isn't listed!
But mine is - lookit that, a firmware upgrade (to 1.03 ;^)
NEC gives extensive cautions/warnings about flashing - how your burner must be Master, with no Slave present, how you must not use Intel controller software or Intel Application Accelerator...? etc. or your Flash will fail :^(

Thanks for the advice but after tinkering with some more of the fw's I found one that works, the 3.00 fw seems to let me record rw discs and also to use nero vision.
