Well I got my new comp running. I went with a epox board with 939 socket and a san diego 3700+ fsb 1 ghz. Now here is the problem. Other than hooking the cpu fan to the wrong plug and hooking up the front panel connections wrong...its up and running fine. Now heres the problem. Im running a s3 trio 64 + plus reg pci vid card. I dont have the money right now for pci x card. Anyway it runs, but the graphics are in slow mo when Im scolling through pages and what not. So I checked device manger and Im getting a error code of 12, which is not enough resources to run properly. So what do I have to do to fix this? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device to no avail. Also one last question. I tried running the ntune utility that came with the board to optimize the settings....overclock. It runs for bout 30 secs and the comp freezes. So I have to shut down...clear the cmos with jumper...and then boot back up. Any ideas?
check this link as it is a list of error codes including error 12. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310123#XSLTH3588121122120121120120
thanks ddp. I ran the troubleshooter and just says redirect anything on the same port as the card. I cant figure out what it is...so guess I will just wait and buy a pci x cvard...unless you got any other ideas?
what other devices in device manager is using the same thing as the videocard & have you tried changed the resouses & whatnot of the videocard & other cards? if using ps2 keyboard & mouse, disable in the bios everything eles like serial ports, parallel ports, usb ports, lan & onboard sound just to see if that frees the resources for the videocard. if not using the serial & parallel ports than leave them disabled. if card works properly than start enabling the other devices 1 by 1.
Yes I did. I turned off and elimated all serial ports...all usb ports. Nothing has work. It seems to me that something is not allowing the card to share the gig of memory in the comp. When I used nero info tool...it had real weird settings. Its hard to explain without showing. But it was acting like the card wasnt installed fully. Its really weird. Oh well...
okay...update...solved it. My neighbor had a cirrus card and I installed it. Now windows is running normally with no errors. There is one prob though..now the bios screen is distorted....the image you see before booting into windows. Dont know why...but the bios settings screen displays normaly. I do have on question though. My speakers when hooked up are popping on and off. This never did it when hooked to the hp. Now is it a power surge or what?
what is the make & model# of the motherboard & do you have the speakers in the right location? is the volume control set to high as in loud??
Thanks ddp. I just figured it out.. There is a built in equalizer that came with the mobo. I was just looking at it and there was a filter for noise interfence. I clicked and it seems good now. Hey why do you think the bios splash screen aint displaying right? Everything else seems good. Unless the splash screen is too high of a pixel than the card can handle. Its weird...the old card gave errors, but the bios looked good. The new one doesnt load the splash right, but everything else seems alright. Fricking weird these bloody comps..lol Btw...what do you think of the evga geforce 6600 card? I found it locally for like 150.00 with 256 mb of ram.
This one right here...came down bout 30 or so in price in the last month http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/EVGA...sem/rpsm/oid/124390/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do
you've got the bottom of the 2 according to this link. http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20050705/index.html
No I think better, None on the chart list 256 mb of mem except the 6800...so they must be higher than those slightly. I will read some more maybe Im wrong. Thanks ddp. As always you are a wealth of knowledge.
Very true. If I know something Im not afraid to post. When you help it comes right back to your three fold. Karmic retribution....
