Hey guys, I have been searching the web for advice on this and have gotten some information but I am still lost.

Here is my dilema, I should in the next few weeks, have some extra money to put towards a new Tv.I cant watch DVDs and play games on my 27" anymore. Anyway, my price range is $500-700 or so, oh and I definitely want to get in on the High Definition that I have been missing. Now, I went to BestBuy and various Electronics stores to price these items and it looked like I couldnt get much bigger than a 32" HDTV at around my budget. I expected as much.

Well, I was talking with the assistant manager at where I work and he was telling me of this great Projector he got from Dell for $800 and he loves it. Naturally, when I got home I researched this a bit more and found this on Dell.com:

Whats more, I can get a discount and get it for $699 through where I work.

The projector seems like the best route hands down, but I dont know what to make of it. It seems like it would go PERFECT in my basement. As I said earlier, I really only want to use it for DVD Movies and Videogames. I want to play my Xbox, especially, in its HD form.

So what are your thoughts on that one??

I know I am getting old here, fast, but I also have another question. I also saw this one on Dell.com for a bit more but the resolution seemed a lot better with XGA 1024 X 768. I honestly dont know if this really makes much difference, but heres the link:

Would the second be a better choice and should I just pay the extra price, or are neither what I should be looking at and could you point me in the right direction?

Thanks a ton guys, I really appreciate it and Im sorry to bog you down with so much, Im just so lost in all of this.

As badly as I'm sure you want a new tv, I'd wait a couple more months when the new models of tvs come out, you should be able to find a good deal on a closeout model then.

Having a projector is a sweet setup but you have to remember that the screen you use also plays a major part in the clarity of picture you see. A good screen will cost you every bit of what those dell projectors will.
