Try rebooting your computer into safe mode, then uninstall it. Worked for me.

Vista improved upon older versions a lot but uses more memory than the others so its harder on what would seem to be normal everyday stuff. Safe mode will keep it to a minimum and SHOULD help. Also, Windows uses the Live package for other things and that may be causing a problem.

Have you tried reinstalling Windows Live or MSN Messenger? Windows is by far one of the most unpredictable programs so its hard to say what will work from one computer to the next.

I'd try reinstalling it or try deleting the msnmngr.exe and see if it will let you uninstall after that, though sometimes it will just keep popping up saying it cannot be found.

Well, hind sight is 20/20 but if it started affecting other Microsoft programs most likely it was a .dll file that was corrupt/missing or a registry problem. Both are relatively easy to fix, the registry fix being a little annoying at times but a system restore does just as good, lol.

Just keep an eye on what programs use what, most likely there was a program that was sharing a .dll file with Microsoft programs and got deleted when the program was deleted.

And I always make sure to never delete .dll files, if I uninstall something and it asks if i want to uninstall the .dll that was being shared but no longer is, I don't delete it because chances are it is being used.

Just a little info for the future. Glad you got it working.
