If you use TMPGEnc and TMPGEnc DVD Author together there is a simpler way to do it than what is shown in the Guide and you will be sure to have audio.

In the step 1 of the TMPGEnc Project Wizard be sure to choose MPEG-1 Layer II Audio[MP2]. Then in step 5 it will be set to output a single .mpg file that contains both the video and audio. Do not check > Output video and audio as individual elementary streams.

Then when you encode the video you will have a single .mpg file that has both video and audio. You can check it with your software DVD player in file mode. Once you know it is working at that point you can just use that .mpg file with TMPGEnc DVD Author and there should not be any audio problems.
