I just got a pretty big shipment of Taiyo Yudens because I heard they're the best around. My 2 Liteon SHW-160 P6S are probably a different story as I normally shop by price.

They won't burn to DVD-R TY G03 so I updated the firmware. They still aren't compatible with TY G03 so I did some research and realized I probably need to use omnipatcher and crossflash them.

I was about to crossflash to SOHW-1653S, but then thought I might want to make sure what I was doing would be okay with some of the knowledgable people on afterdawn.com.

I updated to PSOB already. It sounds like my burner isn't the problem then. The discs are actually TYG02's. I don't know if that's still compatible.

It isn't your disks, you have the best ones on the planet. Too bad they don't make them anymore. Which software burning programs are you using? It sounds like a conflict between one or two items, Nero and Roxio are the first two which come to mind if they are both installed on the same machine will cause one or the other to malfunction from time to time. If you have Nero, please post a log from your last attempted burn, edit out the serial number please Version 7 begins with 1c82. This could serve as a good starting point.

If you are sure that you can crosflash that drive, then I reccomend you use the stock firmware of the drive you are flashing to. I haven't crossflashed this drive or many drives, but know how to do it.

However, as blivetNC said, it is highly unlikely that you need to crossflash as you have some of the best disks ever made.

Where did you buy your disks from?

Also, I, would love a Nero log to pick through :p

I have never seen this one before, try using this guide to turn on DMA for your hard drive.
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038
Coupled with Ripper's excellent advice, should solve your problem.
are you multitasking while burning? You are using a lot of memory even though you have 1 gig of memory in the system. Try burning without any other programs running, I generally have 70-75% free memory from 1 gig when I burn with Nero 7.5.1.1

I'll get back with you after the weekend. I had Nero 6.8 and was actually first encountering my problems with dvdSanta which only had problems with the TY's and not my POS TDK's. Yeah, I could normally do a lot of multitasking and infact configured my OS to run on my memory so I'll try those things out and free up some memory and get back with you later. Thanks so much for the tips.

Thanks for everyone's input. I updated my nero and opened up another batch of my TY's which I was kind of hesitant to try without any working so far.

The new batch worked great. No issues after all with compatibility between the disc and the drive.

I'm gonna go ahead and call rima.com about my bad batch (coincidentally the first pack I opened)

I tried the old batch again and here's the error log for anybody who's interested.

Once again, thanks so much for your patience and input
