I just got my i7 built a month ago, and brother took my old comp and my secondary computer is now.

    Pentium 4 3.2GHz HT
    ASUS p4S800
    3 x 512MB DDR1
    Antec Earthwatt 500W
    200GB IDE
    2 x IDE dvd drive.

This computer is fast enough for regular uses, and is fine. However i have some plans to use it for something else and figure I'd upgrade it. So i need a new build, it doesn't have to be really fast since I got a i7 for when i need speed or gaming. I need case, mobo, cpu/hsf, hdd,and power if the 500w isn't enough. I have 2 x 1GB sticks of DDR1 and DDR2. I dont want to spend more than 300$ on it, but price doesn't really matter.

Any suggestions on if i should just buy a used tower somewhere or if i should have a new build or have a list of parts for a budget build? (Im in Cali, USA.)

    Thanks.

For a cheap upgrade could go for a Pentium Dual Core like an E5300, a Gigabyte P41 board, use the RAM you already have and grab a cheap hard drive like a WD2500AAJS.
