Ok, here's the thing. When I had Windows XP I used Adobe Premier 6.0. Here's how I converted the clips I needed.

I used DVD2AVI to take the clips from PURCHASED dvds using the standard version of Divx. Afterwards I used VirtualDub to deinterlace the clips. I then used All2Avi to shrink the clips back down again since VituralDub made a 30 MB clip into a 3GB clip. Then I just uploaded them into Adobe Premier, and it worked great.

Now the problem. I purchased a new computer that of course has Windows Vista. So I also upgraded to Adobe Premier 7.0.

I attempted to use the same process, only that All2Avi doesn't work and Adobe Premier wont upload the clips correctly. What I did find that worked was when I removed the clip using All2Avi using the Divx 6.8 codec. But I'm not sure if I can deinterlace it with VirtualDub using the same codec. Also, when I do deinterlace it, as I said before, 30 MB becomes 3 GB, and I don't have the room on my computer for that since All2Avi doesn't work on Vista.

What I really need is a program that will deinterlace the clip and compress it using the Divx 6.8. Or at least another program that will remove clips from the purchased dvds and still use the Divx 6.8 codec. Any suggestions?

If VirtualDub works on your Vista machine, just select 'Compression' from the 'Video' menu. You can pick XviD or a number of other codecs there.
