Well this is my first build, and I already have a thread on mobo advice, so i'm pretty sure I got that down.I just need some advice on other parts, especially the case. I want something a little on the quiet side.

My budget is around $1000-$1200. I was thinking about a q9450 CPU for the higher stock speeds, since i am not 100% sure if i'm going to overclock (I have to learn how first....)

    Other parts:
    RAM - 4GB? 2GB if 4 is too expensive.
    GPU - stuck. can't decide.
PSU - how much do i need?
    Case - HELP!
HDD - 500GB. I think this one is ok.

    Any suggestions on parts?? THANKS!

Video encoding, a hell of a lot of games, home theater, etc.
I guess I don't need tooo much, but I do want it to be somewhat future proof.

ok WTF, Afterdawn is really starting to annoy me.....EVERYTIME i post something I need help with, I NEVER GET A RESPONSE that is HELPFUL. Do you guys just hate me?? Or are other people with similar problems and questions like mine just more important? I have only gotten help on one subject and that was with my motherboard in a different thread. Thank you, Sammorris, by the way.

Before I would recommend a CPU Cooler...you would need to choose a case...I would need to know more before recommending for either of those Items...

mrk44 - let's please have some patience, plus what you should be doing is searching for answers for yourself whilst awaiting an answer, instead of whining about no responses.

Sorry, it's just that this happens pretty much almost everytime I post. After one day, my thread gets bumped to the second page, where nobody sees it. I have been posting on like 10 different websites for help for maybe 3 or 4 weeks and I have only gotten like maybe 1 response, which was on tom's hardware (now here too). And I have been searching for answers for many many months, since this is my first build. All I want is some advice on my pics.

Anyway LP531, thank you very much for the parts recommendations. The only thing I may reconsider is the processor because I hear that the 9300 isn't a very good OCer, and even though I said I might not OC, there is a higher chance that i will. And for the GPU, I have always leaned towards nvidia chipsets, but is that one just as good? Thanks again. Sorry for my "behavior."

No problem; if you're being 'pushed down the pages' you'll still get an answer in the PC build forums as there's regulars such as Sam et al who spend a lot of time here like the rest of us sad people :).

Lp531's suggestion was a good one, quite a few people follow some of the bigger, long-running threads such as the PC Building thread, you're guaranteed answers & solutions in there - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/426825 it's the very first sticky in this very forum.

Don't be offended if later on i close this thread (presuming you posted in the PC Building thread), i just like to keep things clean :)

OK, i'll close it, but it's not going anywhere so you can still refer to it in future and/or copy/paste from it.
