Hey! I am looking for the exact thing! Halo is frustrating not being able to whack people like I used to in Halo 1. I want the b button as well. The only options i have seen are:
    1) FPS Master, which quite frankly, sucks. The sticks are way too touchy, and it just feels awkward. You can program any button though, even the arrow pad. So, give it a try, but if you're used to S-controller, you'll probably find it yoo bulky.
    2) Joybox from Lik Sang, or something like that. You can use a ps2 controller, and also keep memory card and microphone functions. I have not tried this box yet. The only problem I've found with using ps2 pads with xbox adaptors is A) you need an old PS 1 controller, because of the analog sensitivity. You have to really mash down on the new ps2 pads for the xbox to register it. So an old one (digital) is preferrable. B) You really need a programmeable ps controller, and those are hard to find. The one made by radio shack does NOT work on xbox. The buttons are all confused. And Halo does not let you assign functions...grr.
    3) This avenue i am exploring now. Drilling a hole, adding a functioning button, then rewiring the b-button (or y) to the new button. My skills, sadly, with soldering and wires, are nil, so i must find someone skilled at this.

Please , PLEASE let me know if you have found any other options. I will keep you updated as well.

There are tutorials on button modifying on Xbox-scene. So search that site and if you have no luck finding what you want then ask in their forums...
