Ok hi, this is my first message.Hope you nice people can help out.The situation is this - Ive got to get more ram on my laptop (toshiba satellite L10).I work on a program that needs 512mb as its minimum requirement. But my ram is only 256mb (in fact in shows as 238 mb on programs that show how much ram youve got - not sure what thats all about).Ive been able to use the proram now but with alot of difficulty and frustration!! Its been a few years like this and i cant take it no more.I definitely cannot afford to buy a new computer. So ram upgrade is the way to go. I dont know anything about rams.I used a program called aida32 to identify my current ram. It's this - samsung M4 70L3224FTO-CB3 256MB(2 rows 4 banks) unbuffered pc2700 166MHZ I heard that the mhz part is important. But im not sure about it. Now if i buy a 512mb ram does it need to be 166mhz? Or doesnt it matter? Can anyone offer advice to an old fool like meself who doesnt know much? Cheers
Just got this info on my laptop from bestbuy website satellite toshiba l10 max supported memory 2gb memory specification PC2700 data bus speed 400 mhz memory technology DDR SDRAM memory speed 33 mhz memory slots qty 2 if that info help, i dont know
Hi there, The better your processor the faster your computer. If your trying to save money I would add 2, 128mbs of SD Ram memory sticks. That will add another 256 and give you a total of 512mbs of Ram. This will be a nice little upgrade and it would meet your software specifications. Good Luck, Rev
revengine, don't think you can put 2 more sticks of 128meg ram in a laptop to get a total of 512meg as there is usually a total of 2 slots & 1 is occupied by the 256meg. chelseag, most likely need to use sodimm ddr ram which is smaller in length then desktop ram. i checked 2 toshiba sites to look at the specs of your laptop but does not show it at all.
thanks revengine - if i get just one more 256mb then that will get me up to 512 right, cheers mate.ddp yeah thats interesting bcos i couldnt find my laptop on the toshiba website at all. Actually we live in Turkey and it is on toshibas turkish website. Not sure why that it is.Its quite old we got it about 3 or 4 years ago.
