Was the company called Q-Tel (Qatarnet) beofre it was Orange or is Orange a new network?

 

I'm not sure. But Orange is based in London if that helps. I was using pay-as-you-go. But the phone may have been locked by the store it came from (which was Orange I believe).

 

Was Qatar the country the mobile was bought in?

 

No the phone was bought in London through an Orange dealer. I wish to use pay-you-go in Qatar, but the phone say's "sim card not valid"
