I'm the "Trailer Park Geek",up here, and my neighbor has been "through" four Receivers so far! Only those receivers wanted for Audio ,NOT Home theater ,or Surround. He plays his speakers outside mostly, but also inside. We have it hooked up to DVD player(Cheapo!),older Pioneer, tried Sherwood, went out! Sony, blew fuse(I Kept it!,as I like Surround Sound! We first had a ever so basic RCA mini amp ,for a week or so!He keeps "Messin" with speaker wires ,etc.,and "Hits The Sauce" Heavy too! NowNobody can tell him his Speaker wires are being shorted or causing the problem! So,I ask my Bros&Sisses here,Recommend a Good Basic Audio Amp/Receiver?They got one on Sale todays paper SonySTRDE197 at C/C,looks pretty basic?Price is no object,I need ease of operation, hookup, relative Heavy Duty,so he quits "Blowing Fuses"! His and the Receivers! Thanks for any advice
Being as your friend hits the sauce too often, seems like he/she needs a receiver with lots of protection. Have you ever tried Krell? http://www.krellonline.com/krell_component.php?id=88&page=EVO707
